There's a photo contest at the Albin Polasek Museum this May, so I decided to take a drive out and find it. The Museum is just off Fairbanks past the Winter Park Library and what a beautiful place. The 3 acres are gorgeously landscaped with many sculptures designed by Polasek. He bought this house as a place to retire in the
1950's and wow, he did it right. They say he had a stroke within a few months of retiring, but did finish his work using only his right hand.
The lake view is inviting, (where's my pole) and to wander about looking at all the statuary and winding gardens must mean he knew exactly how he wanted to live out his years in complete beauty. Go check it out sometime, it's $5 to get in and there are benches all over to sit and absorb, or you can even have a blow-out party too. He's my kind of guy, now if only I could find lake front like that for 1950's prices!
